Fortunate Swine

Installed within World Square, Sydney. Part of Art & About.

In Chinese cosmology the pig is associated with birth and bounty. For those who can’t give up the dream the pig is strongly linked with the plunder, greed and villainy of the Capitalist (the proverbial ‘capitalist-pig’).

In an attempt to rehabilitate the unaware swine, we returned wealth to the pig by filling one papier-mâché pig piñata with $100 worth of $5 notes and another with birdseed.

These two fortunate swine were left to hang underneath a staircase in the plaza of World Square shopping district, Sydney. Both pigs were gone the next morning.
